No Barriers: Jemma Cutting

Updated: Jun 2, 2022

Jemma became fascinated with horse racing while watching the movie Pharlap at just twelve years old. She always loved horses, but the stories, the race colours, and the sporting greats influenced Jemma to pursue a career within the industry.

So far Jemma has studied journalism, ridden track work, worked for race clubs, Sky Racing, and currently is the marketing executive for one of Australia's biggest thoroughbred sale houses. She has worked incredibly hard and her passion and drive for our industry are infectious.

Her love for the thoroughbred goes beyond her work life as she currently owns and competes with her off-the-track thoroughbred Sir Gywn. Together they have taught each other the ropes in eventing reaching 1-star level in 2020.

I loved listening to Jemma's experiences. She gave a real insight into our industry and I found it hugely inspirational. Jemma didn't come from a racing family and her knowledge was researched through books, race replays, and real-life experience in the field.

I hope you enjoy Jemma's story as much as I did.
